About Katie

Katie Portrait S.jpg

Hi I'm Katie, I live with my husband and two hypnobirthed babes in Bursledon near Southampton. I'm dedicated to helping parents feel empowered and informed through pregnancy, labour and beyond. I am a qualified and insured hypnobirthing instructor currently offering private one to one courses in Southampton and surrounding areas. For more details on the areas I cover, have a look here.

I decided this was my calling after giving birth twice using hypnobirthing techniques (have a read of my birth experiences here!) to stay calm and in control. On the day after the birth of my eldest, I declared to my husband that 'I'd do that all again tomorrow!' I felt that hypnobirthing had given me the tools to have an overwhelmingly positive experience. Birth is utterly transformative and has a profound impact on you. Feeling that your birth experience was ultimately a positive one will stay with you forever, and helping to achieve this is my goal, whatever route labour takes. After successfully using hypnobirthing again with the birth of my daughter, I knew I wanted to help mothers feel as empowered as I did after giving birth.

I like to thoroughly do my homework and read up a lot about a given subject. I think it is important to know that my decisions are based on concrete, evidence based reasoning. Far from being something 'away with the fairies', hypnobirthing is based on scientific principles and will give you an understanding of how your body and mind work when in labour. I take my continuous development seriously, as it's important I'm able to provide up to date and relevant information and knowledge. Currently my completed training includes:

  • Qualified Hypnobirthing Instructor

  • Biomechanics for Birth

  • Consent and your rights in childbirth

  • Postnatal Planning

  • Cultural Competency in birth work

  • LGBTQ+ Competency in birth work

  • Neurodivergent Birth

  • Birth after Loss workshop

  • Qualified Breastfeeding Peer Supporter with Association of Breastfeeding Mothers

  • LGBTQ+ Lactation

  • Colic, Reflux & Allergies

I've been volunteering as a qualified ABM (Association of Breastfeeding Mothers) Mother Supporter at my local breastfeeding support group since 2017. All the volunteers are DBS checked at our group. I love helping women navigate those early weeks and months with their babies to get feeding off to the best start. I think supporting women in this way has paved the way for my hypnobirthing business to evolve as I have learnt a lot about birth, labour and parents' experiences. Spending time with mothers in the early days and weeks once baby has been born has given me an appreciation of how a positive birth has a huge impact not just on the labour itself, but also on the journey ahead. My experience of listening and offering appropriate, tailored support means I can adapt the one on one hypnobirthing course to your specific needs. You can find out more about Bursledon Breastfeeding Babes here, it's a completely free group and I'd love to help support you once baby has arrived! I am also involved with the local Maternity Voices Partnership (Southampton & South West Hampshire), helping to shape maternity care in my area.

On a personal note I am a bit of a science and space geek, I enjoy art, design and crafting, and I eat far too much cake.

I am looking forward to hearing from you and helping you at this exciting time in your life!

Feel free to get in touch and find out more about how hypnobirthing can make a difference.
